Renewable Energy

BlueWave Strategies works with clients as a strategic advisor and, in some cases, an equity partner to advance their renewable energy businesses and projects. We also advise companies that want to increase their profits and decrease their environmental impact through better energy policies. Our team is working with renewable energy technology ventures, utilities, policy makers and other energy leaders on a variety of projects that address regional and global energy challenges while growing the clean energy technology sector as an economic engine. For the past five years, BlueWave has been advancing several energy projects in New England and the U.S. Virgin Islands. We have a particularly strong presence in Massachusetts, where John DeVillars was a member of Governor Deval Patrick's Energy and Environment Transition Working Group and continues to work with key state officials on a variety of high profile renewable energy policy initiatives. BlueWave works with partners and clients who share our commitment to environmental leadership, the "double bottom line" of profitability and sustainability, and honest and open dialogue with communities and regulators.

Project Sitting and Permitting

BlueWave brings both technical expertise and political savvy to help our clients site renewable energy technologies. We evaluate the fundamental energy resource conditions and electrical interconnection characteristics to maximize profitability and minimize impacts. We combine these findings with our extensive experience in local, state and federal regulatory and political processes and leverage this knowledge to develop and execute strategies for cost-effective, timely regulatory approvals. BlueWave's team-oriented approach to siting strategies ensures the most cost-effective use of other team members such as attorneys and public relations consultants.

Stakeholder Outreach

BlueWave has a proven track record of implementing successful community, public agency and regulatory outreach programs; facilitating multi-stakeholder processes; and aligning community, political and regulatory interests in support of renewable energy projects. BlueWave also works with clients to draft compelling and substantive outreach materials such as websites, PowerPoint presentations, fact sheets and brochures that can be used to present an energy project to multiple audiences.

Capital Sourcing

Several federal, state and local agencies offer financial incentives for renewable energy projects. BlueWave has extensive knowledge of these funds, program operations, and a high rate of success in securing such funds for our clients and partners. In addition, BlueWave has strong relationships with numerous private equity capital sources with an interest in renewable energy opportunities.

Natural Resource Impacts Assessment

Some renewable energy technology installations, such as wind turbines, require natural resource impact assessments prior to project approval. BlueWave professionals have a deep knowledge of wind energy development projects and the potential impacts associated with the construction and operation of wind farms. We work with our clients and partners to help assess the potential impacts of renewable energy projects and associated infrastructure on natural resources.

Business and Market Development

An increased awareness of global climate change and energy challenges, newly-enacted energy and environmental policies and regulations, and rapidly evolving energy technologies have created business opportunities and markets both for energy entrepreneurs and mature businesses seeking to expand into new markets. BlueWave helps early stage and mature energy ventures develop and execute business development and marketing programs that capitalize on these new markets. We provide strategic counsel, market research and analysis, and related marketing services. With our extensive network of contacts in the public and private sectors, BlueWave is uniquely positioned to leverage relationships to assist our clients. BlueWave can also assist clients in developing compelling marketing materials for diverse audiences.

Energy Customer Services

BlueWave assists public and private entities in identifying opportunities and developing strategies for adopting renewable energy and energy efficiency to reduce costs and environmental impacts. BlueWave works with clients and technical specialists to perform energy efficiency audits and technical and financial feasibility studies for renewable energy installations such as solar or wind, to develop and implement financing plans, to perform community education and outreach, and maximize the bottom line value of their investment.

Strategic policy and regulatory assistance

Federal and state policies on energy and climate change are evolving rapidly, presenting both opportunities and risks for renewable energy companies and energy end users alike. BlueWave has a strong understanding of state, regional and federal initiatives and policies on climate change and energy policy that are essential to short and long-term business planning. We are also actively engaged in working with state and federal officials on energy policy initiatives and able to assist our clients in advancing their interests in the public policy arena. We help clients develop and implement effective strategies to both shape and benefit from this rapidly evolving policy and regulatory environment.
